A new application is going to change the way we read, forever. A Boston-based software company called Spritz has been developing this app for the past three years. Now they are going public and it is set to revolutionize the speed at which one reads.

 

There have been other apps that have offered similar types of Rapid Serial Visual Presentation ( RSVP) or visual content representation designed to enhance the reading speed and overall convenience of interacting on mobile and other devices. 

 

This technology however does things differently by changing the way the words are delivered to you by lining them up with the eye’s natural stationary position for reading as can be seen in the images below.

 

This is called the Optimal Recognition Point (ORP)  and is slightly to the left of the centre of each word. This is the precise point at which our brain is able to decode each random mix of letters.

 

 

 

The power of this particular software is that it automatically identifies the ORP of each word, makes that letter red so that your eyes focus on it, then presents all of the ORPs in the same position on the screen.

 

By doing this our eyes don’t have to move at all as we read the words which is where most of the time delay in reading comes from. This allows us to process information instantaneously rather than spend time moving to and deciphering each word.
